School Council

A school council (or school representative body) serves as a governance and advisory partner to the school, bringing together parents, staff and invited community members to help guide decisions that reflect the community’s needs.

At Girraween, our school council works in collaboration with the Principal to shape the school’s strategic direction, advise on educational priorities, oversees financial matters and infrastructure planning, and drive school fundraising. As approved providers, Girraween School Council is responsible for our onsite Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) service.

Through shared governance, the school council helps ensure transparency, accountability and meaningful community voice in how the school operates and evolves.

The Girraween School Council meets monthly (8 meetings per year). Being part of a school council can be a rewarding experience, and we encourage families to consider contributing to our school community, either as a member or through sub-groups that occur throughout the year, to ensure we continue to grow and meet the needs of our school community.
