TEACHING AND LEARNING

OUR VISION

Our students will develop the skills the attitudes required to become global citizens. They will demonstrate care for the environment, their peers and have pride in their school. They will be active and engaged in their learning and be part of a community of learners who enjoy engaging in literacy and numeracy. Students will have the opportunity to 'play' within their learning and use technology to learn from and demonstrate their learning.

OUR TEAM APPROACH

How our teaching staff is organised reflects our whole school approaches and practices that we feel support and maximise student learning. Teachers at Girraween are part of a 'stage or schooling' - early years (Pre-2) and primary years (3-6). Each stage of schooling is led by an Assistant Principal. Within the stages of schooling are Teaching PLCs (Professional Learning Communities) organised around common schooling grades. These are led by senior teachers/HALTs. PLCs work collaboratively to assess, plan and program. Backward mapping from the Australian Curriculum with autonomy to use research based pedagogical practices is strongly advocated and supported by Girraween Leadership.
